Women’s Lacrosse Wins Overtime Thriller Against No. 25 Harvard

Score: UAlbany 13, #25 Harvard 12

Records: UAlbany (2-1, 0-0 America East) | Harvard (1-2, 0-0 Ivy League)  

Short Story: The University at Albany women's lacrosse team took down No.25 Harvard in overtime on Saturday afternoon.  

Key Stats 
  • Freshman Riley Forthofer scored the game-winning goal in overtime, being assisted by Ravan Marsell
  • UAlbany was led in points by Paisley Cook with six off of three goals and three assists. 
  • Kloey Roos tallied a team-best four goals and added an assist. 
  • Four more points were recorded by Ravan Marsell, with a goal and three assists.
  • Cook also tallied a team-leading 12 draw controls. 
  • As a team, the Great Danes took 18 shots and landed 10 on goal. 
How it Happened 
  • Harvard got on the board first when Emerson Midura scored just under two minutes into the game to make it 1-0. Charolette Hodgson of the Crimson added a goal four minutes later to make it 2-0 early in the first. 
  • Kloey Roos got UAlbany on the board with a goal on an assist from Ravan Marsell to cut the lead to 2-1. Marsell followed with a goal of her own to tie it up at two a piece with just over five and a half left. 
  • Jayden Frink found the back of the net on an assist from Paisley Cook to give the Great Danes their first lead of the game, 3-2. Cook added a goal two minutes later to extend the lead to 4-2 with less than two to go in the first. 
  • The Crimson struck first in the second quarter with a goal less than a minute into the period to cut the lead to 4-3.  
  • Less than two minutes later Harvard tied it up on a free position goal and evened it up at four with 12:48 left. 
  • UAlbany answered back with a pair of goals from Roos, both assisted by Marsell, and made it a two-goal lead once again, 6-4 with 10:42 left in the half. 
  • Cook scored her second of the day on a free position to extend the lead to 7-4 with less than five minutes to go in the half.  
  • With less than a minute left, the Crimson netted a free position goal to cut the lead to 7-5 at the half. 
  • UAlbany opened the second half with a goal from Frink, her second goal of the game, to extend the lead to 8-5.  
  • Harvard answered back three minutes later with a free position goal to make it 8-6 with 9:14 to go in the third. 
  • UAlbany was able to score when a loose ball found its way into the Harvard goal and pushed the lead to 9-6.  
  • The Crimson responded when Hodgson netted her second of the day and cut the deficit to 9-7 with five and a half minutes in the third. Cathie Batchelder added a goal three minutes later to cut the lead down to one with less than three to go. 
  • Cook netted her third of the day on an assist from Roos with under two minutes in the frame to make the lead 10-8U Albany. 
  • After a scoreless five minutes to start the fourth, both teams went back and forth over the next six and a half minutes and saw Harvard score three and the Great Danes net a pair and made the score 12-11 with less than three and a half to go. 
  • With ten seconds left in the game, the Crimson netted their seventh free position goal of the game and tied it up at 12 a piece and sent the game into overtime. 
  • After four scoreless minutes in the overtime period, Riley Forthofer found the back of the net for the game-winner with 55 seconds left, and the Great Danes walked away with a 13-12 overtime victory.
