Holt Named CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND - University at Albany defensive back Victor Holt has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding performance in the Great Danes' 48-31 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.

Holt, a native of Olyphant, Pa., anchored the UAlbany secondary in a rivalry clash to bring the Golden Apple Trophy back to the Capital Region. The junior logged 11 total tackles (3 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, a half sack, a pass breakup, and a game-high two interceptions.

His playmaking directly swung the game's momentum in critical moments. Holt forced the game's first turnover late in the second quarter, picking off a pass at the UAlbany 33-yard line to set up a touchdown drive before halftime. He struck again in the fourth quarter, snagging his second interception at the goal line to deny a Stony Brook red-zone scoring threat.

Through seven games this season, Holt ranks second on the team with 45.0 total tackles (21 solo) while adding 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. His two interceptions lead the team.

UAlbany returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 24, as the Great Danes travel to face Rhode Island. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET with coverage on FloCollege.
