SHORT STORY: Junior Pilar Lorenzini led with five shots but the Great Danes fell to Columbia, Friday afternoon.

COACH PHIL SYKES: "Columbia played very well today. They came out with good energy and put us on our heels early. We had chances to get back in the game but just couldn't finish. We need to work on a few things to get ready for the next game."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Columbia earned four early penalty corners in the first three minutes of the game but the Great Danes were able to hold them off and the first quarter remained scoreless.
  • The second quarter saw just three shots from the Lions but two of them proved to make it into the net for a goal.
  • The Great Danes answered with eight shots in the following five minutes of play, with five corners, but they were unable to score and Columbia held the 2-0 lead at halftime.
  • The Lions added a third goal in the third quarter.
  • UAlbany held the possession for much of the fourth quarter with three corners and three shots to Columbia's one shot but it was not enough and the Great Danes fell, 3-0.
 
NEXT: UAlbany heads on the road for four consecutive games before returning home on October 3 to open league play.
