Field Hockey Shares 2025 Schedule

ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany field hockey team is set for a competitive fall as the Great Danes announced their 2025 schedule, Wednesday.

This year's slate includes nine home games to be held at Alumni Turf and features 2024 NCAA semifinalist, UMass, with six additional CAA, Big East, and Ivy League foes.

"We have a good variety in our schedule this year," said head coach Phil Sykes. "We have two very tough teams early on in 2021 NCAA runner-up Liberty and 2024 NCAA semifinalist UMass. These games will show where we are at and will be a great measuring stick for the season. We will compete against three always-tough Ivy League opponents in Cornell, Yale, and Columbia, as well as schools on the rise like Northeastern, Wagner, and Hofstra. Our conference games are always a battle as every team will be fighting for a high seed in the conference tournament."

After starting on the road for the first time since 2020 last year, the Great Danes return to the ways of the past and open the season with Hofstra on August 29 at home. UAlbany is set to close out the first weekend of competition at Wagner before hosting New Haven and Columbia for two mid-week games.

The Purple and Gold will close out September with a five-game road streak starting at Liberty on September 12 and ending at Cornell on September 28. On September 21, UAlbany will visit UMass, an A10 member who went undefeated in conference play in 2024 and made it to the NCAA Semifinal round.

In October, the Great Danes will compete against one conference opponent a week. They will open league play in the Capital Region against Maine on October 3. Sundays in October will see four non-conference opponents visiting Alumni Turf.

UAlbany closes the regular season against UMass Lowell on Thursday, October 30.

New this year, the America East Field Hockey Championship Tournament will be played at three different sites - the high seeds of each round. The tournament will start with the quarterfinals (November 2), move on to the semifinals (November 4), and end with the championship on Friday, November 7.
