Five Honored With America East Postseason Awards

BOSTON - Five members of the University at Albany’s softball team have been awarded a postseason honor from the America East Conference, announced Tuesday.

Senior Caitlyn Frederick led the pack with a First Team All-Conference nod. Redshirt-senior Kate Powers and sophomore Taylor Quinn added two all-conference honorees with a Second Team placement. Powers was also voted to the All-Academic Team. Hailey Errichiello and Vanessa Meyers have been named to the All-Rookie Team.

Having totaled 26 stolen bases throughout the 2025 season, Caitlyn Frederick leads the conference. Being called out just three of 29 steal attempts, Frederick is and has been a consistent threat on the base paths. Making her way to the top of the lineup during the season, the senior spent much of the season as the Great Danes’ leadoff batter, tallying a team-high .349 batting average with a .414 on-base percentage. Ranking fourth in the conference in BA and sixth with 44 hits and 28 runs, the Bethlehem, Pa. native notched 10 multi-hit and six multi-run games. A career short-gamer, she showed her power at the plate this year for 16 RBI, her first career home run, and a conference-high three triples.

The Great Danes’ starting pitcher, Kate Powers earned her first All-Conference nod with a historic season. The redshirt-senior is second in the conference with a 2.23 ERA and third with 11 wins in the circle. Having appeared in 23 contests, she is fourth in the league with four shutouts, three solo, and sixth in the AE in starts, complete games, and innings pitched. Throughout the year, she has pitched three shutouts with an additional three contests allowing zero earned runs. The Hope Valley, R.I. native threw two two-hitters in 2025.

Adding to her all-conference honor, Powers was named to the All-Academic Team for the second year in a row. She will graduate in May with a degree in biology and minors in Public Health and Leadership. With plans to attend PA school, she will first head to Latin America to shadow doctors and learn Spanish for nine weeks.

After her first year as a Great Dane, Taylor Quinn was named Second Team All-Conference. The sophomore finished the year second on the team with a .317 batting average, 40 hits, and 23 RBI. Sharing the conference lead with four total student-athletes, she hit three triples. Her batting average, RBI count, and 22 runs scored total are good for top 15 in the conference while her 40 hits are top 10 in the league. Overall, the Latham, N.Y. native tallied 12 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games.

The 2025 season brought a large class of newcomers to the Great Danes. Hailey Errichiello and Vanessa Meyers made up two of the eight freshmen welcomed. A pitcher and a catcher, respectively, they were selected to the All-Rookie Team.

UAlbany’s starting catcher, Vanessa Meyers is a power hitter at the plate. Having started 36 of 43 contests, she owns a .250 batting average with 21 hits, including four doubles, and 10 RBI. Second in the conference in walks, she has worked for the team’s highest on-base percentage (.418). Going 6-6 in stolen bases, she has scored 13 runs and tallied three sacrifice hits, including one sac fly, to help her team.

In the circle, Hailey Errichiello is the Great Danes’ second-best pitcher when it comes to ERA, wins, complete games, and innings pitched. Ranking in the top 10 in the league in nearly all pitching stats, she has worked for five wins in 12 starts with six complete games. Throwing a conference-low 22 walks, she has struck out 62 batters, 20 looking, in 80.0 innings pitched. In her first collegiate season, Errichiello threw one solo shutout with two shared shutouts.
