How it Happened:
  • UAlbany opened the night trading baskets as Muhammad scored twice early and Kempson attacked downhill to keep it within 11-9.
  • A driving finish from Ife West-Ingram and a Kempson runner kept the margin close, and Lindsey connected on a mid-range jumper to make it 18-16 near the midway point of the half.
  • Columbia created separation with a quick 9-2 stretch before Muhammad answered with a corner three and an Abidde finish inside to trim it back to 33-30.
  • Kempson scored on a right-side drive to bring UAlbany within 36-34 in the final minute, but Columbia added a late basket to take a 38-34 lead into halftime.
  • The Lions opened the second half on a strong run, converting at the rim and from the perimeter to extend the lead to double digits.
  • West-Ingram provided a lift with three straight baskets inside, and Lindsey turned the corner for a finish to bring it to 56-45, but Columbia responded with multiple threes to push the margin back out.
  • Abidde added a pair of scores in the paint and Kempson finished in transition, but Columbia continued to convert at a high clip, shooting over sixty percent in the second half to close out the 93-65 final.
