Harris Leads Volleyball Past Siena in Four Sets

SHORT STORY: Graduate opposite Kendall Harris powered the UAlbany attack with 15 kills, 18 digs, and 2 aces as the Great Danes earned a four-set victory over Siena in front of their home crowd.

COACH JOSH PICKARD: "It was a good match to grit out at home. Proud of the switches we made and how the players reacted. Kendall had a great game, going all six rotations. A double-double for her is an excellent outing."

KEY STATS

  • Graduate opposite Kendall Harris led UAlbany with 15 kills, 18 digs, 2 aces, and 18 total points.

  • Graduate outside hitter Shynelle Woroniuk tallied 14 kills, 12 digs, and 2 blocks.

  • Redshirt-junior middle blocker Gabriella Karman hit .235 with 6 kills, 10 total blocks, and 1 ace.

  • Graduate setter Maria Olga Siapani posted 40 assists, 17 digs, and 5 blocks.

  • Senior outside hitter Anna Myhal recorded 10 kills on .304 hitting with 4 digs.

  • Sophomore defensive specialist Kasia Barletta led the back row with 24 digs and 3 aces. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Siena took the opening set 25-22, pulling away late after a back-and-forth start despite three kills from Kendall Harris and two from Anna Myhal.

  • UAlbany responded with a steady performance in the second, fueled by Harris' six kills and an ace. 

  • The Danes built an early lead at 14-8 and held off a late Siena push to even the match 25-23.

  • The Great Danes dominated the third frame, hitting .343 as Harris and Myhal combined for seven kills while Gabriella Karman anchored the defense at the net. 

  • A Harris kill sealed the 25-17 win.

  • UAlbany carried the momentum into the fourth, breaking open a close set midway through with a 7-2 run behind Kasia Barletta's serving. 

  • Harris finished it off with back-to-back kills for the 25-18 clincher.

NEXT: The Great Danes continue America East play at home on Friday, Oct. 10, hosting NJIT at 6:00 PM for their annual Pink Game.
