Baseball Falls to CCSU in Midweek Contest

Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team fell in its midweek matchup to Central Connecticut State (CCSU), 11-1.
 
Head Coach Jon Mueller: "They [CCSU] built an early lead and added on in the middle innings with a couple home runs and we weren't really able to respond. We're going to turn all of our attention on to Bryant."

How it Happened:
  • Kyle McCaffrey started on the mound for the Great Danes, Drew Dunn started for the Blue Devils.
  • CCSU got on the board in the second inning with a two-run home run to left field off the bat of Josh Taylor.
  • UAlbany made it a 2-1 game in the bottom half of the second. Ryan Ferremi drove home Will Binder from third on a ground out to second base.
  • The Blue Devils pushed the lead to 5-1 in the third following a three-run home run from Ramon Jimenez.
  • Joseph Tobia took the mound for UAlbany to start the fourth.
  • CCSU added a run in the fifth. Dan Hussey scored from third on a passed ball.
  • Rob Manetta took the mound for UAlbany to start the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he was replaced by Cam Fuer. With Fuer on the mound, one run scored on a passed ball before Hussey hit a three-run home run to push the lead to 10-1.  One more run scored later inning on a wild pitch, making it 11-1.
  • Jack Kelley took the mound for CCSU to start the bottom of the sixth.
  • Michael DiMartino was handed the ball for UAlbany to start the seventh.
  • Randy Reyes took the mound for CCSU to start the bottom of the seventh.
