Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team was unable to hold on late against Fairleigh Dickinson University on Saturday afternoon. The Great Danes led by as much as five runs, but the Knights posted three-straight two-run innings to take the lead in the eighth before closing the game in the ninth.
Head Coach Jon Mueller: "We played a solid game defensively and established a lead early. FDU was able to cash in on the free passes throughout to climb back into the game."

- UAlbany Pitchers:
- Jason Bottari and Devan Kruzinski led the way for the Great Danes with two hits each. Bottari finished with two RBIs, Kruzinski with one. Kruzinski recorded his first hit as a Great Dane with an RBI single in the fourth.
- Will Feil, Chris Fisher, Dylan Banner, Owen Silliman, and Victor Mazzara all recorded a hit. Silliman and Feil also notched an RBI.
- Danny Alvarez did not record a hit but registered an RBI.
- UAlbany finished with nine hits, five walks, and five strikeouts, leaving nine men on base.
How it Happened:
- Cregg Scherrer started on the mound for UAlbany, Ethan Rembish started for FDU.
- UAlbany recorded the first run of the game in the second inning. Devan Kruzinski hit a ground ball to short with Dylan Banner on third. The Knights' shortstop gave a bad throw to first, resulting in a run scoring for the Great Danes.
- The Knights tied the game in the bottom of the third following a leadoff triple from Luke Cantwell. He crossed home plate three batters later after being driven in on an RBI single from Justin Sierra.
- The Great Danes responded the next inning by re-taking the lead. Owen Silliman hit a SAC fly to right, scoring Chris Fisher. Fisher originally got on base following an error by the FDU shortstop.
- UAlbany tacked on two more run in the fourth to push the score to 4-1. Kruzinski singled to left, driving in Banner, and Jason Bottari grounded out to short to drive in Victor Mazzara. Kruzinksi's RBI single was the first hit as a Great Dane.
- FDU's Brian Sanders made the game 4-2 in the bottom half of the inning with a leadoff home run.
- Brendan Medoro took the mound for FDU to start the fifth.
- The Great Danes increased the lead to 7-2 in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Bottari drove in the first run with an RBI single up the middle. Will Feil and Danny Alvarez, the next two batters, both were able to draw walks with the bases loaded for a total of three runs in the inning.
- After walking the first two batters to start the sixth, Scherrer was replaced with two men on and nobody out by Thomas Quinn.
- The Knights were able to add two runs following the pitching change on an RBI single from Sanders and a groundout to short from Hunter D'Amato.
- FDU continued to chip away in the seventh, making it a two-run game, 7-5, following a Joan Sosa RBI single. Tom Ruscitti cut that lead in half shortly after when he drove in Werner.
- Rob Manetta entered for UAlbany to start the eighth.
- FDU took its first lead of the day in the eighth inning on a two-run shot from TJ Werner, making the score 8-7. The home run would prove to be the difference maker, with FDU holding on in the ninth.
