BOSTON - The University at Albany field hockey's
Alison Smisdom was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
An Antwerp, Belgium native, Smisdom led the Great Danes to a 2-0 weekend with one goal and two assists. A junior midfielder/defender, she was a member of a defense that allowed just one goal in 120 minutes of action.
Nearing the end of the regular season, Smisdom is first on the team with 17 goals and 40 points. She ranks sixth in the nation with 2.50 points per game and seventh with 1.06 goals per game.
This award marks Smisdom's fourth of the season, 10th of her career, and the team's sixth of the season. Smisdom precedes her awards with three Defensive Player of the Week honors (Sept. 12, Oct. 3, & Oct. 10) while Mara Küskes and
Axelle Werbrouck were named Rookie of the Week (Sept. 26 & Oct. 10, respectively).
UAlbany returns to action with its final regular-season game at Vermont (Oct. 27).
