SHORT STORY: The Great Danes got ahead early before Fairfield tied the game in the second half. Tallying the game-winning goal, it was UAlbany taking home the overtime win, Sunday.
COACH PHIL SYKES: "It was a great team effort today. I am really proud of our discipline and composure. We created some great chances in the second half but could not get that second goal. Overtime play showed some tremendous grit and fight. It was a great bunce back from yesterday's game."

- Senior Julie Rodijk notched her first goal of the season.
- Sophomore Sophia Schoonmaker tallied her third collegiate goal.
- Overall, the Great Danes outshot the Stags, 16-7, with a 9-5 advantage in corners and a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first quarter, the Great Danes opened the second with a quick corner just over a minute into the period.
- Julie Rodijk netted the ball to put the first goal on the scoreboard. After a shot from the top from sophomore Alison Smisdom, Rodijk took the rebound and one-touched it to put the ball in the back of the net.
- The Great Dane defense held off all advances from the Stags to own a 1-0 lead at halftime.
- UAlbany outshot Fairfield 3-1 in the third quarter but neither team was able to get one past the goalkeepers.
- The Stags tied the game with a goal just over a minute into the fourth quarter. With the Great Danes unable to tie the score, the game headed into overtime.
- Compiling three shots and four penalty corners, UAlbany held the offensive advantage in the first overtime period.
- With 8:31 on the clock, Sophia Schoonmaker scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime period. Sophomore Floor de Ruiter brought the ball up the field and made a cross. Schoonmaker collected the cross before pushing the ball into the goal.
NEXT: The Great Danes will continue on the road at Colgate on Friday, September 9.
