How it Happened
  • Sarah Falk kicked off an 8-0 scoring run for UAlbany to start Wednesday afternoon's road game at Canisius, finding the back of the net off an assist from Katie Pascale just under 75 seconds after the opening draw.  The Great Danes' defense did not allow a Canisius shot until 8:15 left in the first quarter.
  • UAlbany outscored Canisius 6-0 in the first and scored the first two goals of the second before Canisius ended the scoring streak at eight with its first goal of the game with 13:31 remaining before halftime.  Trailing 12-3 with 6:41 remaining in the half, the Golden Griffins threw together a three-goal scoring run before Falk scored to put UAlbany up 13-6 to end the first half.
  • Canisius narrowly outscored UAlbany in the second half, starting with an even third quarter where the Golden Griffins scored the final two goals as part of a three-goal run into the fourth, responding in-kind to UAlbany's three-goal run in the middle of the third.
  • The Golden Griffins managed to cut their deficit to five with 6:28 remaining in the game following back-to-back scores, but Pascale added one final goal for the Great Danes with 2:20 to go.  Canisius scored one last time, with one second remaining, to close the game with a final score of 20-15 in favor of UAlbany.
  • Falk finished the game with five goals and added one assist, while Pascale scored four times with five assists for a game-high nine points.  UAlbany outshot Canisius 37-28 overall, including 8-2 in the first quarter, and outdrew the Golden Griffins 23-15.
