Short Story: The Great Danes drop game one on a walk-off infield single, but defeat Hartford in game two behind Anthony Germinerio's 14 strikeouts and Marc Wangenstein's four runs scored.

How it Happened Game 1
  • After UAlbany went down in order to start the game, Hartford applied pressure in the bottom of the first. The Hawks had two runners on base with two outs, but UAlbany pitcher Ray Weber was able to escape the jam with a groundout. 
  • Hartford followed another hitless inning by UAlbany with the game's first run in the second inning. With players on first and third base, Donnie Cohoon hit into an RBI fielder's choice that gave Hartford a 1-0 lead.
  • UAlbany earned its first two baserunners in the third inning. With runners on second and third, Will Feil grounded out.
  • In the bottom half, Hartford struck for two more runs on a sacrifice fly and RBI single that gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead. 
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Weber was able to escape another jam, as he got Derek Tenney to fly out with the bases loaded.
  • After two clean innings with a few hits for each team, UAlbany had runners on first and second base with no outs in the seventh inning. 
  • With one out in the inning, John Daly hit a three-run home run to tie the game 3-3. The home run was Daly's first of the season.
  • In the bottom of the seventh with runners on second and third, Hartford's Tremayne Cobb Jr. hit a walk-off infield single to third that gave Hartford a 4-3 game one victory.
How it Happened Game 2
  • The Great Danes wasted no time building off game one's seventh inning runs when Johnny Marti hit an RBI double that gave UAlbany a 1-0 lead in the first.
  • Hartford responded in the bottom half with an RBI groundout from Drew DeMartino that tied the game 1-1.
  • In the second inning, John Daly drove in Marc Wangenstein with a single as UAlbany took a 2-1 lead. UAlbany held a one-run lead until a breakout fourth inning.
  • With the bases loaded, Dolan Ocasal hit a bases-clearing triple that gave the Great Danes a 5-1 lead. Will Feil drove in Ocasal with a single the next at-bat, followed by another Marti RBI double that gave UAlbany a 7-1 lead.
  • In the fifth inning, Wangenstein hit a solo home run to give UAlbany an 8-1 lead. The home run was Wangenstein's 22nd of his career and moved him to tied-third in program history. 
  • UAlbany added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Chris Fisher hit an RBI groundout in the seventh, followed by a Feil solo home run in the eighth. Feil's second home run of the season gave UAlbany a 10-1 lead.
  • While UAlbany scored eight runs, starter Anthony Germinerio held Hartford hitless for his final three innings of work. During the stretch he struck out seven Hawks' hitters in a row. 
  • With a scoreless ninth inning from Anthony Fusco, UAlbany sealed its 10-1 game two victory to earn a doubleheader split at Hartford.
