Coach Howard: "This one hurts. In a game where we got better as time went on, really showcased a lot of what we have been implementing in training, and had the ball for a majority of the second half, you hope to get a better result. The game was physical and a bit chippy at times, and I thought that had a big impact on how it was able to be played. When that's the case, we need to be able to adjust more quickly and more effectively."

How it Happened
Â
- Binghamton broke the scoreless tie in the 27th minute on a free kick. The Bearcats drew a foul 25 yards out from the UAlbany goal. Victoria McKnight served up the ball into the middle of the box, finding Erin Theiller who headed the ball past UAlbany goalkeeper Sophia Chen for the score.
- UAlbany tied the game in the 69th minute, when freshman Olivia Piranio scored off a setup from Jada Colbert. It was Piraino's second goal of the season.
- With time winding down, the game appeared headed for overtime, before Binghamton's Stefania Piantadosi broke through UAlbany's defensive line and beat Chen with seven seconds remaining to seal the 2-1 victory for the Bearcats.
- Binghamton outshot UAlbany 13-9 overall, and Sahara Zingano took six of UAlbany's nine total shots. Binghamton won their season opener, and UAlbany lost for just the 11th time at Casey Stadium since the start of the 2015 season.
