NEW YORK – One day after attaining their highest-ever poll ranking, the University at Albany football team drew the #18 ranking in Athlon Sports' revised FCS Preseason Top-25, announced Tuesday.
 
In Athlon Sports' original preseason poll, released in June, 2020, the Great Danes were ranked 23rd.  UAlbany ended their record-setting 2019 campaign attaining their highest-ever ranking, at the time, across all FCS outlets with Athlon Sports' final poll in which they were 15th.  This rank was surpassed with yesterday's 12th ranking in the HERO Sports Preseason Top-25.
 
In addition to UAlbany, four other CAA institutions earned spots in Athlon's preseason poll.  James Madison, 2019 national runner-up, was ranked fourth, followed by Villanova in seventh, New Hampshire in 14th, and Delaware in 22nd.
 
Elon and Richmond also earned mentions, falling just outside the top-25.
