Head Coach Leigh Howard: "These are three big points for us.  Across the board, today proved that in this conference anything can happen on any given day.  We played a great UMass Lowell team who had done really well thus far in conference and battled every step of the way with them.  We are proud to have secured another shutout and have to continue to give credit to Jasmine for putting away another game-winning goal in conference.

How it Happened
  • UAlbany surrendered five shots before taking their first, seeing UMass Lowell test goalkeeper Cassandra Coster right away in the fourth minute, before UAlbany's first shot came in the 15th.  UMass Lowell outshot UAlbany 10-5 in the first half, including 5-1 in shots on target, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
  • The first, best scoring chance for either team came in the 60th minute when UMass Lowell drew a free kick just off the top of the UAlbany box.  The River Hawks' attempt made it through the defense on the ground but safely into Coster's arms.  UAlbany's shot on a quick ensuing counterattack missed high over the UMass Lowell crossbar.
  • Despite finding its offensive footing after halftime, outshooting the River Hawks 12-8 in the second half, UAlbany saw its fifth game overall, and fourth in their last five, head into overtime.
  • Jasmine Colbert received a pass in the middle attacking zone from Natasha Fowler-Varon in the 93rd minute.  Colbert cut to her right and ripped a shot from the top of the box into the top netting over UMass Lowell goalkeeper Lisa Sjogren to clinch the Great Danes' first overtime victory of the season.
  • Coster finished the game with a career-high 11 saves and recorded a shutout for the second-straight game.  UAlbany hands UMass Lowell its first conference defeat, and just its second loss at home all season.
