Four Great Danes Taken in 2018 MLL Collegiate Draft

SPARKS, Md. – Four Great Danes were selected into the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) ranks in the sport's Collegiate Draft tonight.

Connor Fields was selected third overall by the Charlotte Hounds, the second-highest pick ever for a UAlbany player only to Lyle Thompson, who went 1st to the Florida Launch is 2015.

Kyle McClancy was taken by the Atlanta Blaze 10th overall, the first pick of the second round.  Troy Reh was chosen 27th overall, in the 3rd round, by the New York Lizards, and Justin Reh was picked 59th overall in the 7th round, also by the Lizards.

Fields is the third-ever first round pick from UAlbany, and it is the first time that two Great Danes were taken in the top-10 of the draft.

UAlbany has had at least one player drafted into the MLL 11 of the last 12 years.  Adam Osika was taken 21st overall last year by the Atlanta Blaze. 

Fields, a Tewaaraton Trophy finalist and three-time USILA All-American, stands in the top-6 all-time in Division I with 191 goals and 336 points, adding 145 assists.  In nine games this season, the senior attack has a team-best 58 points, off 26 goals and 32 assists, and is in the top-10 in DI in goals per game, assists per game and points per game.

McClancy, a 2017 USILA and Inside Lacrosse All-American, passed the career 100-point mark this season from the midfield.  The two-way senior midfielder has earned 108 points and 95 ground balls in his career, including 21 goals and 19 ground balls this year through 11 games.

Troy Reh earned USILA and Inside Lacrosse All-America honors in 2017 at LSM.  In 63 career games played, the senior has amassed 112 ground balls and 47 caused turnovers, plus adding 22 points off 11 goals and 11 assists, all at LSM.  This year he has 22 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and four goals.

Justin Reh has started on the UAlbany attack line the last three seasons, earning 136 career points off 80 goals and 56 assists.  The 2017 America East All-Conference Second Team player has 14 goals and four assists through 11 games this year.

The MLL Collegiate Draft was held at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland on Wednesday night.
