Short story: Behind a game-high 21 kills from Akuabata Okenwa, the University at Albany volleyball team defeated New Hampshire, 3-1, on Friday at University Gym. With the victory, UAlbany earned the No. 2 seed in the America East Tournament.
By the numbers
- Okenwa and Chloe Evering (11) each totaled double-digit kills for the Great Danes.
- Anderson Vaughan lead UAlbany with 40 assists.
- Nicole Otero led the Great Danes with 20 digs, while Vaughan and Charlotte Macken had 17 each.
- UAlbany held New Hampshire to a .161 hitting percentage.
Game notes
- UAlbany and New Hampshire already had clinched America East Tournament berths. Stony Brook has locked up the No. 1 seed and will host the tournament Nov. 16-17. The Great Danes will be the No. 2 seed, and the Wildcats will be seeded third. The teams will meet in again Nov. 16 in the semifinal. Hartford is the No. 4 seed.
- The Great Danes swept the season series from New Hampshire and now lead the all-time series 23-21.
