ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany football student-athletes will be wearing the names of active and retired military members on their uniforms on Sat., Nov. 3, as part of the program's annual “Military Appreciation Day.”

Fans can honor a serviceman or servicewoman during the game against CAA-rival Delaware with a nameplate on the back of a student-athlete's helmet. To submit a name, CLICK HERE and fill out the form.

The deadline for submission is Wed., Oct. 17. A total of 91 nameplates are available.

Additionally, fans can purchase special $5 tickets that will be donated to local veterans as part of the “Danes Salute: Tickets for Vets” program, held in partnership with SEFCU, which already has purchased 500 tickets for donation. CLICK HERE to purchase a ticket for a veteran.

This marks the sixth straight year the UAlbany football program has honored military members by having student-athletes wear their names. The idea started with head coach Greg Gattuso, who sought a way of thanking the men and women who serve our country. The program has since honored hundreds of veterans and also makes annual visit to Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
