Women's Basketball Visits Monmouth

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women's basketball team will play a second-consecutive game on the road to open the 2017-18 season, at Monmouth on Thursday, November 16.

The Great Danes (0-1) opened the season at #15 Maryland, the team that head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee won the 2006 national title with as an assistant coach under Brenda Frese.  UAlbany played Maryland close through the first quarter, after which both teams had scored 14 points.  Maryland started to pull away in the second quarter and went on to win the game 91-58.

Redshirt-senior captain Jessica Féquière led all scorers with 21 points.  She made a career high five three-pointers on seven attempts.

Monmouth last played Lehigh, falling to the Mountain Hawks by a score of 75-57.  Thursday's game against UAlbany will be the third straight Monmouth will play at home to begin the season.

Following the Monmouth game, UAlbany will finally host its home opener on Sunday, November 19 against Fordham.
