UAlbany Field Hockey Earns Top Sport GPA in America East in 2015-16 Season

2015-16 America East Academic Cup - Conference Release

ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany field hockey team continues to be strong in the classroom, earning a 3.55 GPA this season to achieve the highest GPA among field hockey teams in the America East Conference.

In addition, the UAlbany field hockey squad is the only America East team that was the highest GPA of its counterparts plus won the conference regular season title and the tournament title in the 2015-16 season.  The team is one of two America East GPA champions to have won the tournament championship in its sport this season.  UAlbany spent the season ranked in the top-10 nationally, winning its second consecutive America East Tournament title and earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Four UAlbany players, Taylor Schwoyer (3.95 GPA), Maxi Primus (3.83), Paula Heuser (3.78) and Fiori Van Rijswijk (3.51), all earned a place on the America East All-Academic Team in November.

The America East Conference released its GPA champions for each sport.  As a program, UAlbany finished with a 3.15 GPA in the 2015-16 America East Academic Cup, encompassing all student-athletes that compete in the league.  UAlbany, which finished sixth in the Academic Cup, helped the conference earn a 3.15 overall GPA, the highest mark in league history.

New Hampshire got the 2015-16 America East Academic Cup with a 3.23 GPA.
