ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany community showed up in force during the recent March Matchness campaign, a university-wide initiative where every donation was matched dollar-for-dollar.
 
March Matchness is UAlbany's annual giving challenge, enabling alumni, families, and friends to double their impact through dollar-for-dollar matching gifts. This initiative provides vital resources for student-athletes to excel both on and off the field. Contributions directly fund essential program needs, including national travel to face elite opponents, advanced performance technology, and the recruitment of the next generation of Great Danes.
 
UAlbany Athletics saw a surge of support, accounting for $270,011 of the University's total $667,547 raised. Out of the 1,524 total donors who participated university-wide, 738 directed their support specifically toward Athletics, proving once again that the Great Dane family is committed to the success of its student-athletes.
 
Leading the charge for the entire University, Football ($67,335) and Men's Lacrosse ($53,350) raised more money than any other school or department on campus. These two programs set a record-breaking pace for the campaign, highlighting the immense support from their respective alumni and fan bases. Additionally, Women's Basketball, Cross Country and Track & Field, Golf, Baseball, Men's Basketball, and Volleyball all eclipsed the $10,000 giving mark.
 
UAlbany Athletics expresses its sincere appreciation to the donors and supporters whose generosity fuels the department's mission of developing Great Leaders, Great Champions, and Great Danes. This support directly impacts the experience of student-athletes, providing the essential resources and opportunities needed to achieve excellence in competition, in the classroom, and within the community. Every contribution reflects a shared commitment to this vision and reinforces a culture where student-athletes can thrive.
 
The department acknowledges and values every individual who serves as a vital part of this mission and champions the journey of each Great Dane.
