Blaze Riorden, Connor Fields Earn America East Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

BOSTON – After leading UAlbany to a 12-8 victory over Cornell over the weekend, Blaze Riorden and Connor Fields each picked up America East men's lacrosse weekly awards, the conference announced on Monday.
Riorden was selected as the America East Defensive Player of the Week while Fields was chosen as the America East Offensive Player of the Week.
Out of nine men's lacrosse weekly honors given by the America East this season, UAlbany has five of them, including five of the last six. Each Riorden and Fields pick up their first conference weekly honor of the season. In their careers, Riorden has four league Player of the Week honors while Fields earns his first.
The two helped UAlbany defeat Cornell 12-8 for the team's second straight victory on the year.
Riorden locked down the cage against the Big Red with a season-high 18 saves on 26 shots on goal, including nine in the fourth quarter. He also caused two turnovers and scooped five ground balls in the victory.
Fields led the offensive unit with six points, helping on half of UAlbany's scores, with four goals and two assists, adding a caused turnover on the ride. He had three goals in a row for UAlbany from the second into the third quarter.
Riorden, Fields and the Great Danes take on UMass tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Amherst.
