BROOKLINE, Mass. – The UAlbany women's soccer team could not comeback from its two-goal first half deficit as it fell to Northeastern on the road 2-0 on Sunday.

Alexa Schneider led UAlbany (2-6-2) with two shots, including one on goal.  The loss went to Alana Brennan, who saved three shots in goal and shutout Northeastern (5-3-2) in the second half.

Northeastern saw first half goals from Bianca Calderone and Carina Deandreis.  Paige Burnett saved two shots and got the victory.

UAlbany had the first good look of the game in the 13th minute.  Krista Fitzpatrick took a corner kick and found Schneider, but the header went high.  Northeastern countered with a shot from Kayla Cappuzzo, which went wide.

Following a goal kick being taken to the far side, Deandreis received the cross, stepped around a defender and scoring from outside the box inside the right post to put NU up 1-0 in the 26th minute.

After the defense held off on a couple of corner kicks, UAlbany countered and saw Schneider take a second shot in the 30th minute, but Burnett saved the ball.

In minute 37, following a blocked Carly Wilhelm shot, Calderone was fouled inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick.  Calderone converted to the top of the net in the center to give the home team a 2-0 lead.

Quickly off the restart, Allison Carhart kicked the ball towards the cage, with Burnett making the save.  The two sides went into halftime at 2-0 NU.

NU got a couple of shots off in the opening minutes of the second period, with the second being saved by Brennan, who saved another shot in the final seconds from Nicole Wilkins.  UAlbany was not able to get another shot off in the game, and despite holding NU without a score the entire half, the Great Danes fell 2-0.

UAlbany will take on NJIT in its final non-conference game of the regular season at Bob Ford Field at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 25th.
