HAGERSVILLE, Ontario – UAlbany lacrosse alum Corey Small served as a strong member of a Victoria Shamrocks team that finished as the runner-up in the Mann Cup.

The Mann Cup is the most prestigious indoor championship in the Canadian Lacrosse Association.  Victoria fell to the Six Nations Chiefs in six games in the best-of-seven format.

To qualify, the Shamrocks won the Western Lacrosse Association title.  Small earned four points in the 9-4 title game victory over the Maple Ridge Burrards on August 28th to cap a 4-1 series win for Victoria.

Small, a four-year player at UAlbany from 2006-09, scored nine goals and seven assists for Victoria in the Mann Cup series.

His top performances came in Victoria's wins in games two and three.  In game two, he scored the game-tying goal with 31 seconds left in the first overtime period to force a second OT, which Victoria won 6-5.  The following game, he scored three goals and three assists, including a game-winning assist to Scott Ranger in overtime.

Away from the Shamrocks, Small has been a member of the Edmonton Rush since he was drafted into National Lacrosse League in 2010.
