UAlbany WSOC Looks to Continue Winning Streak at UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. – The UAlbany women's soccer team will play its next two games on the road, starting with UMass Lowell for an America East contest at the Cushing Field Complex on Thursday, October 9th at 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on AmericaEast.tv.
UAlbany swept its weekend homestand for a pair of America East victories last week, defeating New Hampshire 4-2 and Vermont 6-0. It is the first time since 2012 that the Great Danes have won back-to-back league games. Leanne Miller scored goals in each game, totaling three on the week, as did Vivian Vega, who earned America East Rookie of the Week with two goals and an assist.
UMass Lowell joined the America East for the 2013 season as the two programs met for the first time in DI play last year. UAlbany hosted the River Hawks, defeating UMass Lowell 2-0. Erin Savoldy and Maggie Couett each netted goals in the win.
Going into Thursday's game, UAlbany is tied for first with Hartford for first place in the America East. Each stands with six points, each having two wins in league play.
This year, through 14 games, eight UAlbany players have at least two goals and seven have at least five points. Vivian Vega is third in the league with 19 points off eight goals and three assists. Kiana Rugar has four goals and four assists to total 12 points. From the UAlbany midfield, Krista Fitzpatrick has three goals and five assists for 11 points, while Caitlyn Paltsios has 10 points off three goals and four assists. In the cage, Alana Brennan has a 76.4 save percentage, allowing 1.50 goals per game.
UMass Lowell is coming off a 4-0 loss to Binghamton this past Sunday and is 1-0 in league play at home after a 3-1 victory over Stony Brook. Sophomore Taylor Chianese is the team's leading scorer with three goals and an assist. Seniors Sarah Raye and Emily Bracken each have two goals. Seniors Jill Carlson (1.88 GAA, 75.8% SV) and Jane Hatzikonstantis (2.37 GAA, 61.5% SV) have split time in goal.
