BROOKLINE, Mass. - Huskie defender Sandra Magnusdottir's goal in the 78th minute lead Northeastern over UAlbany, 2-0, on Sunday, September 16. The Great Danes fall to 3-5-1 overall while the Huskies improve to 2-6.
UAlbany goalkeeper Alana Brennan dropped her first match between the pipes, tallying seven saves on nine chances. On the other side of the field, Northeastern goalkeeper Paige Burnett made just three saves for the match's only clean sheet.
With the match in a scoreless tie at half, Northeastern (2-6) put the pressure on UAlbany in the second half, recording 15 shots to the Great Danes five.
The Huskies got on the board first when Gretta Samuelsdottir sent a cross into the box for teammate Sandra Magnusdottir to cap the play off in the 78th minute. Then in the 90th minute, Northeastern would put in an insurance goal by Hillary Savoy for the Huskies second win of the season.
In the first half, the Great Danes were able to hold the Huskies to a scoreless tie. Northeastern would tally just seven shots to UAlbany's three and corner kicks were even at one. Great Dane goalkeeper Brennan would keep the Huskie offense at bay, making both saves to keep the game scoreless.
