Top Drawer Soccer
Albany, N.Y.- Four UAlbany women's soccer players were named to the Top-20 America East Conference players to watch, according to TopDrawerSoccer.com. Senior midfielders Maggie and Chelsea DeVerna, junior foward Aubrey VanGorder and sophomore defender Stephanie Nelle were place on the Top-20 America East Players To Watch list.

VanGorder, a Cortland, N.Y. native, is the Great Danes top-returning goal scorer from last season. The junior forward produced four goals, one of which was the game-winner against Iona (9/7).

Both Maggie and Chelsea DeVerna, Setauket, N.Y. natives, bring back to the team both experience and offensive fire power back to UAlbany. The senior midfielders tallied a combine 11 points in the middle (4 goals, 3 assists) in 20 games.

Nelle, a Massapequa, N.Y. native, looks to help lead a young back line that saw two of the four starters graduate last season. The sophomore defender helped defend four opponents to shutouts last season.

The Great Danes will wrap up its preseason camp with an exhibition match against St. Rose on Friday, August 17at 2 pm.

UAlbany will begin the 2012 regular-season schedule with a five-game roadtrip beginning with Syracuse on Friday, August 24 at 3 pm.
