Albany, N.Y.- After Friday's first full-padded practice, UAlbany football got underway with its first full-contact intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday, August 11. Assistant coaches went up to the press box with their head sets and both the offense and defense went head-to-head for about an hours worth of scrimmage to officially being the 2012 preseason camp.
Some notable stats for the first intra-squad scrimmage were sophomore quarterback Will Fiacchi threw for 81 yards on 11 attempts, sophomore wide receiver Cole King snagged a 36-yard reception and junior wide receiver Kevin Chillis caught a 33-yard pass, both passes came from Fiacchi.
Redshirt freshman tailback Presley Beauvais showed some flashes of speed with two of his three carries for gains of 10 and 14 yards. Sophomore wide receiver Jacob Meek was featured at the quarterback position and had four 10-plus yard rushes (10, 10, 11 and 19).
The Great Danes will have two more intra-squad scrimmages leading up to the week before their season-opener at home against the Colgate Raiders on Saturday, September 1 at 6 p.m. on University Field.
