UAlbany Women's Soccer Drops Match to Central Connecticut State, 3-2, in Overtime

New Britain, Conn. - Brittany Jackson netted a hat trick, including the game winner in overtime to lead Central Connecticut State to a 3-2 win over UAlbany in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday afternoon.

Central Connecticut took a 2-0 lead into halftime on two Jackson goals. The Blue Devils first tally of the day came in the 13th minute, as Jackson took assists from Julie Lavoie and Rosie MaGuire, taking a pass on the right side and beating UAlbany goalkeeper Dani Britt. Jackson put CCSU up by two in the 17th minute on another helper from MaGuire, this time coming in from the left.

UAlbany, which was outshot 6-3 in the first half, rebounded after the break to tie the game at 2-2 before the final horn. Aubrey VanGorder scored an unassisted goal off a misplay by CCSU goalkeeper Nikola Deiter, corralling the rebound and finding the back of the net in the 53rd minute. Shayla Bergeron netted the equalizing goal in the 70th minute, capitalizing on a Blue Devil turnover in the box.

Neither team could score again in regulation, sending the game into extra time. Just over seven minutes into the overtime period, Jackson took a deep pass from Danica Foglio and beat Britt, ending the game in the Blue Devils' favor.

CCSU (2-2-2) outshot the Great Danes, 19-12, in the game, and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Deiter played a complete game for the Blue Devils, making five saves between the pipes. Britt also saw all 97:08 of action, making six saves in the net.

UAlbany (2-4) will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Manhattan.
