Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Jessica Panos and Ally Panos have been chosen to the 2011 America East Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team, as announced on Wednesday, March 16. The sisters, who are from Bay Shore, N.Y., are among 12 student-athletes voted to the squad.
Jessica Panos has a 3.72 cumulative grade point average with a dual minor in sociology and education. She placed fifth in the 1,000-meter run at the America East Conference championship with a time of 3:01.49. The junior also ran one leg of the winning 4x800-meter relay than finished with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 9:05.67. She was chosen to last year's America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Ally Panos has a 3.93 GPA in psychology with a dual minor in sociology and education. She is a member of UAlbany's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The senior posted a time of 18:19.24 to place 11th in the 5,000-meter run at the conference indoor meet. She was also ninth in the 3,000-meters at the Great Dane Classic. Panos helped UAlbany win its second consecutive America East indoor championship and score the second-highest point total (206.5) in league history.
