UAlbany Wraps RACC Classic and Heads to Boston

Albany, N.Y.—The University at Albany indoor track program held their 23rd annual RACC Classic Intrasquad and Alumni Scrimmage this week. This marked the first unofficial competition for the Great Danes since their arrival on campus in August.

The RACC Classic kicked off on Thursday in the UAlbany Bubble with turbo javelin and weight throw, followed by the long and triple jump, 3,000 meter-run, and pole vault. Chinwe Igwe earned first in the weight throw with a mark of 56-06.75. Zoe Doolittle placed first in the women's weight throw with a mark of 42-04.00, and took first in the shot put as well, throwing a mark of 42-04.

Freshman Alexis Trott placed first in the long jump with a mark of 18-00.25. Colonel Fakorode earned first for the men with a mark of 22-09.25. Fakorode also placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 48-04.75.

Hannah Reinhardt finished first in the women's 3,000 meter run in 10:30.2, while Tyler Ranke won for the men with a time of 8:57.2.

Competition resumed Friday afternoon, when the remaining athletes competed in their events. Shot put and discus were both held in the Bubble, followed by high jump in the SEFCU arena. In the discus Zoe Doolittle earned first with a mark of 131-03. Jon Eustache placed with a mark of 166-06 for the men. Eustache also placed first in the weight throw with a mark of 59-00.75.

Victoria Stoffel won the women's high jump, clearing a mark of 5-03.

The track events followed later in the day, starting with the 500 meter run. Tiguida Toure finished first for the women in the 500 meter dash in 1:20.5. Elliot Everett was first in the men's 300 meter dash, running a time of 37.61.

Freshman Joey Somerville earned first in the 1,000 meter race with a time of 2:39.6.

Tishauna Francis won the women's 55 meter dash finals in 7.55. Osiris Nicholson placed first for the men in 6.46. In the 800 meter run, Mary Adeyeye placed first with a time of 2:36.0, and also took first in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.9. Jake Coveney won the 55 hurdles with a time of 7.93, and also placed second in the men's high jump with a mark of 6-00.

Letti Hibbard was the sole female competitor in the pole vault, where she finished with a mark of 7-06. Donald DiBari placed first for the men, clearing a height of 13-06.

While the RACC Classic served as a starting point for the whole UAlbany team, for some student-athletes, the official season began this weekend with the Boston University Season Opener this Saturday, December 3.
