BOSTON—Over the weekend 23 of America East's top indoor track & field student-athletes were named to the All-Academic team for the 2015-16 year. The University at Albany's Mary Adeyeye earned a spot on the women's team for her excellence both on the track and in the classroom.
Adeyeye, a junior from Mohegan Lake, N.Y. and Co-Captain of the women's team, holds a 3.90 GPA majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Physics. During the America East Indoor Conference Championships in February, she earned third place in the women's pentathlon with 3,330 points and eighth in the shot put. She was also fifth overall in the pentathlon at the ECAC Indoor Championship, scoring 3,454 points.
In addition to her academia and athletic performances, Adeyeye is the co-representative for the women's track & field team on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, where she holds the role as the Social Media and Public Relations Officer. She is a Research Intern at the Pharmaceutical Research Institute, working on drug conjugation and dual drug delivery.
This marks the second time Adeyeye has been named to the All-Academic team after appearing in the 2015 Outdoor season. To earn a spot on the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have accumulated a 3.30 minimum GPA and contribute to the team's season.
The Great Danes will continue with their outdoor season this Thursday at the Florida Relays in Gainesville.
