Hanover, N.H. ? Kelsey Quick scored twice and Myra Sack added one goal and two assists to propel Dartmouth to a 5-0 win over the University at Albany women's soccer team on Tuesday, Oct. 7. After taking a 2-0 lead into the break, the Big Green netted three goals in a span of 10:26 midway through the second half to pull away from the Great Danes. Kendra Harrell-Vigil led UAlbany with two shots on goal.
Dartmouth (5-4-1) got on the scoreboard in the 21st minute when Meagan Tibbo headed in a pass from Becky Poskin. The Big Green doubled their lead in the 30th minute. After UAlbany goalkeeper Amber Maisonet punched away a shot taken by Sack, Quick collected the rebound and shot the ball into the open net to give her team a two-goal lead that they would carry into halftime.
UAlbany (3-12) had its best chance to score early in the second half when Katie Grant, who was recently named the America East Conference Rookie of the Week, had a one-on-one breakaway opportunity against Big Green goalkeeper Laurel Peak. She rifled a shot from the top of the box, but Peak was able to punch it over the goal to keep her shutout alive.
Dartmouth responded Grant's scoring threat by netting three more goals before the match was over. Maggie Goldstein hooked a shot from the right side that looped over Maisonet in the 59th minute to put Dartmouth ahead 3-0. Sack and Quick then connected for the second time to extend the Big Green lead to four in the 66th minute, and Sack followed up with her first goal of the match in the 69th minute from 18 yards away off a rebound to close out the scoring.
UAlbany's Maisonet faced 22 shots and made five saves in goal. She was relieved by Cate Crenson in the 78th minute, who faced one shot. Dartmouth's Peak turned away three of the four shots she faced to earn her third shutout of the season.
The Great Danes continue their America East Conference schedule when it visits Hartford on Sunday at 2 p.m.
