Baltimore, Md. ? Morgan Warrington scored a goal and added an assist to lead UMBC to a 3-1 win over UAlbany in America East Conference women's soccer action on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at UMBC Soccer Stadium. The Great Danes fall to 4-10-3 (AE 1-7), while the Retrievers improve to 3-13-2 (AE 2-6).
Caitlin Slattery opened the scoring just over five minutes into the contest when she took a cross from Warrington and buried a shot from six yards out to give UMBC a 1-0 lead. Warrington would tally what would hold up as the game-winner at the 17:04 when she carried the ball up the left side of the field and slotted a shot past Great Danes keeper Maria Liguori for the insurance goal. The Retrievers would take the 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Diana Barrera scored her fourth goal of the season five minutes into the second half for UAlbany to cut the deficit to 2-1, courtesy of a Teresa Boring assist. UMBC put the game away in the 85th minute when Erin Johnson beat Liguori to the top right corner of the goal.
Liguori finished with eight saves, while UMBC goalie Catie Bukowski made three stops.
The Great Danes will conclude their season on Tuesday, Oct. 30 when they host Delaware State at 2 p.m. at Varsity Field.
