Tom Bartyzel joins the University at Albany women’s soccer program with a diverse background in high school and club coaching, as well as a strong focus on player development, program building, and education.

Most recently, Bartyzel served as the head coach for both the girls’ and boys’ varsity soccer teams at Heritage High School in Blount County, Tennessee. In his first 2024/25 season with the girls’ program, he led the team to an 11–5 regular season record and was named District Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, the program produced the District Player of the Year, three All-Region selections, and one player who earned All-State consideration. Several student-athletes also went on to commit to play at the collegiate level.

On the boys’ side, he inherited a team that had recorded just one win over the previous two seasons and helped lead them to a much-improved 6–11 record during the 2024/25 season. His leadership contributed to multiple college signings, including players heading to Milligan University and Tennessee Wesleyan, as well as an NCAA Division II commitment to Lincoln Memorial University.

Off the field, Bartyzel made an impact by organizing successful fundraising efforts that supported upgrades to team gear, equipment, and field operations. Aside from starting the boys' and girls' preseason mountaineer meetup jamboree tournaments, he also launched the annual “Kick for Cancer” rivalry event with neighboring Alcoa High School and spearheaded facility improvements such as upgraded speakers, a new scoreboard sign, field painting, irrigation enhancements, and updated training equipment.

In addition to his work at the high school level, Bartyzel has coached at the club level with OneKnox SC, where he worked with players competing at the NPL, MLS Next, Girls Academy, and State League levels, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Secondary Education to further support his coaching and professional career.

Bartyzel was a member of the SUNY Oswego men's soccer team where he graduated from in 2018 with a bachelors in finance and minor in applied statistics
