At UAlbany
Shae O'Brien joined the UAlbany women's basketball staff as the Assistant Director of Operations ahead of the 2025-26 season.
As the assistant DOBO, O'Brien will assist in the day-to-day operations of the UAlbany women's basketball program, including team travel, scheduling, budgetary coordination, and the organization of camps and clinics. He will also play a key role in supporting scouting, practice operations, and the continued development of the program's winning culture.
Prior to UAlbany
Before joining the UAlbany coaching staff, O'Brien was a member of the UAlbany women's basketball program for two seasons (2023-25). He served as a practice player and the head scout player. During that time, he helped the Great Danes to two of four-consecutive 20-win seasons and two America East Championship appearances.
Personal
A native of Niskayuna, N.Y., O'Brien graduated in May 2025 with a degree in business administration, concentrating in marketing and management. A Magna Cum Laude student and recipient of the 1844 Scholarship, he was named to the UAlbany Dean's List five times.
