Lucey attended Northeastern University as a freshman.

High School
Lucey was a two-year letter-winner in track and field at Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, where he was named team captain in his junior and senior season. Lucey also played four years of football as a running back and safety. Lucey was named to the All-Section team in his senior year, the same year he attended Nike Indoor and Outdoor Nationals. His senior year also saw him named team MVP. While at CBA, Lucey was also a member of JROTC.
