High School
Small was a three-year letter-winner at Benjamin Banneker, where he served as team captain in his senior year. He was named All-City in the 600m, and was honored as the 2011 U.S. Army Student-Athlete.
Personal
Ryan Small is the son of Emmanuel Small. He has two brothers, Joel and Joshua, and two sisters, Sujes and Lashada. He intends to major in English.
