Q: Okay, so what is it like being on the same team as your sister?
Adaliz: I really enjoy it because we’ve been on the same team since high school. Being able to grow up and see each other improve in our events is really special.
Dani: Personally, I like the fact that I can see my sister excel. And, it motivates me to do well in my event as well.
Q: Why did you make the decision to come UAlbany? Was it just like competing together part of the deal or was it a coincidence?
Adaliz: It was a coincidence. I always wanted to come to UAlbany. I always knew that like how good the program was and … yeah, it was just a coincidence that she followed.
Dani: I saw my sister at UAlbany and I liked the way the program looked and … I was just excited to come and join her.
Q: Have you guys always competed on the same teams?
Adaliz: Yeah, since middle school.
Q: Was it always track and field or did you also play a different sport?
Adaliz: We also played field hockey …
Dani: … for one season.
Q: What was it like growing up and spending that amount of time with one person? Both the positive and the negative.
Dani: Well, the negative is that it can get annoying. *laughter*
Adaliz: The positive is that we use each other to like motivate [each other] … since we do the same sport we …
Dani: … can relate [to each other]. Also having someone on the team, like my sister, I can go to talk to her about anything. If I don’t do so well at a meet, I can go to her for support.
Q: Thank you, guys.
