Carroll Earns Third Rookie of the Week Award

BOSTON – For the third time this season, University at Albany freshman Hailey Carroll has been named America East Rookie of the Week for women’s lacrosse, the conference offices announced Monday.  She was named alongside Vermont’s Elise Koehl, who was named Offensive Player of the Week, and Hartford’s Emma Privitera, who was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Carroll, an attack from Fulton, N.Y., scored eight goals in two games for the Great Danes last week.  In UAlbany’s first game, a 17-9 defeat at #1 Boston College, Carroll matched the team lead with two goals, while adding three draw controls and one ground ball.  Over the weekend, in the Great Danes’ America East opener at UMass Lowell, Carroll led all scorers with six goals, adding three draw controls and two ground balls to give UAlbany a 16-10 victory over the Riverhawks.

Starting all nine games so far this season, Carroll currently ranks third on the team with 20 goals and fourth with 21 points.

UAlbany continues its season-long road swing with a trip to #4 Syracuse on Wednesday, March 27.
