GDAC - Letter From AD

GDAC - Letter From AD

Dear Great Dane Supporter,

On behalf of our student-athletes, athletics staff and administrators, thank you for being involved and taking time to learn more about supporting UAlbany Athletics through the Great Dane Athletic Club (GDAC). By investing in our talented student-athletes, you ensure they have the resources necessary to accomplish their goals here at the University at Albany and beyond.

In 2017, our athletic department saw a tremendous amount of achievement with nine of our eighteen teams winning America East titles, including our 100th Division-I title. These accomplishments would not be possible without your support. Whether you are a first time donor or have been making gifts to UAlbany Athletics for years, your investment provides our more than 450 student-athletes with the resources necessary to compete at the highest level of competition and excel academically.

Your support has been strong. Since the establishment of GDAC in 2015, we’ve grown from 271 to 571 members while unrestricted giving has increased 300%. Our goals remain the same for 2018: continue generating the revenue necessary to attract the nation’s top student-athletes, and provide them with an athletic, academic and social experience that is second to none.

You may be aware that the 2017 passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act necessitated modifications to the priority seating programs of college athletic giving clubs, as charitable gifts related to the purchase of seating at athletic events are no longer tax-deductible. To continue providing you with your core GDAC benefits such as premium seating, parking, hospitality and amenities, we now offer two funds within GDAC for  deductible and non-deductible contributions. Both types of GDAC membership make UAlbany Athletics stronger and have a direct impact on the success of your Great Danes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your partnership is truly valued as we continue into our third year of the Great Dane Athletic Club. Thank you for your commitment to the Great Danes, and for continuing to inspire greatness in our student-athletes.

Sincerely,

Mark Benson
Director of Athletics
