Women’s Tennis Falls To UMass Amherst
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The University at Albany women’s tennis team hosted the University of Massachusetts Amherst this weekend at their indoor home in SPORTIME, Schenectady. The Great Danes put in a solid performance, but fell to the Minutemen, 5-2.
UMass captured the doubles point with wins over the Great Danes at #1 and #3. Alba Sala and Isidora Pejovic managed to win #2 doubles, 6-4.
In singles, Alba Sala defeated her opponent in a, 6-0,6-0 shut out—an almost unheard of feat in college matches. Freshman Jovana Kenic also had an impressive win, taking the match in, 6-3, 6-0.
"I was encouraged that we played some good tennis today against a strong team,” said Head Coach Gordon Graham. “This is going to help make us a better team starting tomorrow."
