Women’s Tennis Falls To Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.—After a home match on Saturday, the University at Albany women’s tennis team traveled to Boston College to play in their second match of the weekend on Sunday. The Great Danes had a strong performance, but ultimately fell to the Eagles 7-0.
“We turned in a strong performance against the #48 team in the country,” said Head Coach Gordon Graham.” Boston College came within a few points of beating the #7 ranked team, Virginia, two weeks ago.”
UAlbany came close to taking two match points with the doubles team of Paulina Torres and Ana Glumac winning their set 6-2, and a close match with Chassidy King and Dajana Ognjenovic falling 7-5, but Alba Sala and Isidora Pejovic also dropped their match 6-2.
In singles, Torres and Sala both took a set off the Eagles. For the first time playing since October, Torres won her first set 3-6, dropped the second and third set 6-1 and 6-2, respectively. Sala lost her first set 6-2, won her second set 3-6, and dropped the last set 6-3.
“Everybody played hard and competed well,” said Graham. “I am definitely encouraged by our play. Going toe-to-toe with Boston College was a good confidence boost for everyone.”
The Great Danes will return for a two home matches on Saturday, February 6 when they face Fairleigh Dickinson, and Sunday February 7 against Marist.
