Albany, N.Y.- The UAlbany tennis team took care of business at home against Colgate, 6-1, on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at Tri-City Tennis Club. All three Great Dane doubles team were able to come out victorious. Freshman Kirsten Scott extends her unbeaten streak in the spring 2012 season to 7-0.
The Great Danes opened Wednesday's match with No. 1 doubles of Rocio Lopez Alberca/Livia Gherman, No. 2 Kirsten Scott/Cheryl Kukkonen and No. 3 Sarah Iannone/Aubrey Brooks all winning their respective matches to go up 1-0 over Colgate.
During the singles play, Scott began with her seventh victory in as many matches in the No. 2 singles by defeating Kelsey Shea in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Following Scott, Brooks in the No. 6 singles versus Olivia Rauh and Lopez Alberca versus Alex Petrini in the No. 1 singles defeated their opponents in straight sets as well to capture the match, 4-1.
The Great Danes will continue their 2012 spring season at Lehigh this weekend in a three-team match that includes Stony Brook and the Mountain Hawks.
