Tennis Begins Its 2012 Spring Season Against St. Peter's College

Albany, N.Y.- New head coach Gordon Graham and the UAlbany tennis team begins its spring 2011 season against St. Peter's College on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Great Danes are looking to have a smooth transition from the fall's three tournaments. Last fall included the Eastern Collegiate Championship, Marist Invitational and the ITA East Regionals. All three tournaments were mainly to evaluate each player's strengths and weakness to prepare for the 2012 spring season.
     The 2012 spring season schedule kicks off on the road at St. Peter's college on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Great Danes then come home to play Atlantic-10 opponent Fordham (Feb.4) and Colonial Athletic opponent Hofstra (Feb. 5) both at the Tri-City Town Club.
     Then UAlbany hits the road to play Sacred Heart (Feb. 11), Binghamton (Feb. 17), and crosstown rival Siena (Feb. 18). Following the three-match road trip, the tennis team comes back for a home match against Colgate (Feb. 22). UAlbany then heads to Lehigh for a three-way match with Stony Brook (Feb. 25) followed by Lehigh (Feb. 26).
     After the three-way match, the Great Danes play Fairfield (March 3) on the road and then head into their school spring break where they head to Florida. In Florida, UAlbany plays Florida Atlantic (March 13) then follows up with Cleveland State in Boca Raton, Fla..Following the Florida trip, the tennis team comes back home for its next two of three matches at home in the bubble against St. Bonavenure (March 23) and Bryant (March 31) with an away match in between against Marist (March 25).
     UAlbany concludes its 2012 spring schedule with its final six of seven matches on the road against Boston U., Delaware State, UMBC, Rhode Island, Providence, and Hartford. The Great Danes squeeze in one home match in between those six matches against UMass.
     The America East Tournament is scheduled for April 27 through April 29 at the USTA National Town Club.
