Albany, N.Y. - Susan Ma won at first singles and combined with Aubrey Brooks for a doubles win to lead UAlbany to a 6-1 win over Sacred Heart in non-conference tennis action on Saturday afternoon..
Ma recorded the Great Danes' first singles win with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Kate Donnelly. Laine Mackey recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while, in the third singles position, Aubrey Brooks, posted a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Gabi Kaldan. Sarah Iannone posted a three-set win over Darcy Demers, 7-6, 2-6, 6-4, while Melissa Coughlin recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win over Kristina Chao at No. 5 singles. Delaney Downing won the final singles match for Sacred Heart for the lone Pioneers win, defeating Rachel Drake, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
UAlbany swept all three doubles matches to earn the point. Ma and Brooks defeated Kaldan and Demers, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, while Mackey and Coughlin recorded an 8-4 victory over Harrington and Chao at the second doubles position. The Great Danes completed the sweep when Drake and Iannone posted an 8-5 win over Donnelly and Downing.
