UAlbany Tennis Closes Out Spring Break Competition in Florida With Loss to Florida Atlantic

Orlando, Fla. - Justine Humair won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, while also leading the second doubles team to victory, as Florida Atlantic defeated UAlbany 7-0 in non-conference tennis action on Saturday afternoon.

Humair defeated Livia Gherman, 6-1, 6-0 in singles action and teamed up with Cassie Bergeson for an 8-4 win over Susan Ma and Caitlin Crowley in doubles play. Bergeson earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Laine Mackey at No. 2 singles, while Natasha Basma defeated Ma, 6-1, 6-4, at third singles. In the fourth singles slot, Crowley took Erika Mrazkova to three sets, falling 6-0 in the first before posting a 6-4 win in the second. Mrazkova came back for a 6-0 win in the final set to earn the point for the Owls. Domonique Wimmer defeated Aubrey Brooks, 6-0, 7-6 (3) at No. 5 singles, while Virginia Augustin completed the sweep in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sarah Iannone.

Florida Atlantic earned the doubles point with wins in the second and third matches. Basma and Natasha Phillips defeated Iannone and Brooks, 8-4. UAlbany's only win of the day came at first doubles, with Mackey and Gherman earning a 6-3 default win over Mrazkova and Wimmer.

UAlbany will return to action on Friday, April 9, visiting Massachusetts at 2 p.m.
