ALBANY, N.Y. – Amir Lindsey of UAlbany men's basketball has been named America East Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday.
 
The sophomore guard helped guide the Great Danes to a perfect 2-0 week with conference victories over Binghamton and Vermont, averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. Lindsey's efficiency was on full display as he shot 15-35 (42.9% ) from the floor, 4-10 (40.0%) from three-point range, and a nearly automatic 13-14 (92.9%) from the free-throw line during the two-game stretch.
 
Lindsey secured the weekly honor by helping UAlbany pick up its biggest win of the season to date, delivering a 75-68 victory over Vermont. Playing 40 minutes, he tallied 24 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. This performance followed a stellar outing against Binghamton on January 15, where he recorded 23 points, a weekly best seven assists, with four rebounds while shooting 9-of-17 (52.9%) from the field.
 
For the week, Lindsey's total production included 47 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals across 78 minutes of action.
 
Lindsey currently leads the America East in several major categories, ranking first in the conference in points (320), points per game (17.8), field goals (113), field goal attempts (248), and minutes played (36:05). He also ranks second in the conference in assists (84) and assists per game (4.7).
 
UAlbany will continue its season on the road against Maine on Thursday, January 22 in Orono, Maine, with tipoff set for 6:00 PM.
