SHORT STORY: Senior Hassan Abidi ran a personal record and broke his own program record in the 800m quarterfinals at NCAA Regionals, Friday.
 
KEY NOTES

• Getting out to a good start, Abidi was leading for the first quarter of the race. Despite losing the lead and dropping back in the pack, he ran the fastest closing lap of the heat to beat his own program record. 
• In a race in which the first three in each heat qualify for nationals, Abidi finished fourth running a 1:47.30 race. He was just one-hundredth of a second behind the runner in third place. Both Abidi and the third-place finisher ran personal bests.
